Reconditioning of Public Transport Bus Engines, Spares & Components (NJK)

Image
Reconditioning of Public Transport Bus Engines, Spares & Components Public transport buses run for lakhs of kilometres every year, often on poor roads and under heavy loads. Their engines and major components wear out steadily, and replacing them with brand-new parts every time would be extremely costly for state transport corporations. This is where reconditioning comes in — a core practical subject in the diploma mechanical engineering curriculum and a major area of employment in RTC workshops, private garages, and automobile service industries. This blog breaks down what reconditioning means, why it matters, and how it is carried out on bus engines and their components. 1. What is Reconditioning? Reconditioning is the process of restoring a used or worn-out component to a condition as close as possible to its original specifications, using inspection, repair, machining, and replacement of worn parts — rather than discarding the whole assembly and buying new. It sits b...

Common Plastics for Injection Moulding(GL)

Image
Common Plastics for Injection Moulding There are over 90,000 types of plastic injection moulding feed materials , presenting a vast array of options that can make it challenging to identify the ideal one for a specific application. Injection moulding service providers frequently encounter issues when clients select incompatible plastic materials, often needing to suggest more suitable alternatives. Choosing the right resin is crucial for achieving cost-effectiveness, high material efficiency, optimal product performance, and compatibility with mass production requirements. These tens of thousands of plastics can be categorised into approximately 45 polymer families . More broadly, they’re typically divided into two major categories: thermoplastic and thermosetting polymers , used across different injection moulding processes . Thermoplastic polymers are reusable, while thermosetting polymers are intended for single-use applications. In this article, we’ll explore 13 of the most common ...

Advanced EV Battery Technology and Battery Management Systems (NJK)

Advanced EV Battery Technology and Battery Management Systems Electric vehicles (EVs) are no longer a niche technology — they're rapidly becoming mainstream, and the automotive industry needs engineers who understand what makes them tick. While EV powertrains involve a lot of electrical and electronics know-how, the battery pack itself is deeply mechanical: it needs structural design, thermal management, vibration protection, and packaging optimization. That's why diploma mechanical engineering students are increasingly finding themselves working at the intersection of mechanical design and battery technology. This post breaks down the fundamentals of EV battery technology and Battery Management Systems (BMS) in a way that connects directly to what you're already learning in mechanical engineering — thermodynamics, materials science, and machine design. Why Batteries Matter So Much in EVs In a conventional vehicle,...
